Well, come ten hours from now, I’ll be sitting in the passenger terminal waiting for a big metal bird to carry me away from from this place, and off to Germany.
So I’m going to be off line starting at twenty-three hundred hours tonight. I am not sure how often I will be on until such [...]

I did one of these online quizzes today. You can find the link over on the sidebar. You see, I was over at Morgan Hawke’s Blog and found this quiz. She has her result posted on her blog. I went into it, thinking it would come out with Sci-Fi or something similar. I think I [...]

Well, I’ve mostly re-written the prologue to my “Bigamy” story. Thus far for all the work I’ve done, it’s only a net again of 86 words. However, that is due to several large sections that I deleted entirely. The real gain is around 1000 words, even if the grand total of words along the side [...]

I really hate it when computer misbehave. It makes me want to seriously threaten them with tazer guns. “Work for me my precious little silicon beauty, or I’ll melt you down and turn you into a pocket calculator!!!”
Some computers, it seems, just don’t know how to behave, and they need a dominatrix to get them [...]

Well, I signed up for a flight today. My sign up is good for 5 days, so hopefully, come the first of June, I’ll be huddled into a crowded military aircraft headed for Germany, and then home via Frankfurt.
I have one last footlocker to mail out, and I am packing up the odds and ends [...]

ARUGH!!!
I hate it when I feel like I am telling half the story in narrative format. It’s just pet peeve. It’s to much telling, and not enough showing. Hate it!!
The time line of the “Bigamy” story is threatening to become longer than I originally intended. Mostly due to the way I have manipulated the [...]

remittance girl

May 28, 2005 | 1 Comment

Well, my online friend remittance girl, “RG” has once again proved herself to be a brilliant and extremely talented author. All that and I adore her sense of humor and her wealth of cultural knowledge.

She was kind enough to send me one of her newer works of literary brilliance yesterday “The Pipe of Thorns“. It [...]

Well, it’s Saturday, and Memorial Day Weekend. My kids will be watching cartoons in a few hours, and I am feeling kinda guilty about not being there with them.
When I was growing up, and still back “home” in Farmington. On Memorial Day, my parents, my grandparents, and my Aunt and I would go down to [...]

Well, time is just flying by over here. It’s hard to believe I only have four days left. At the same time, it seems four days is an eternity. The paradox is comical.
Hopefully yesterday was the last Thursday I’ll spend in Afghanistan, and hopefully today will be the last Friday. If I am still trying [...]

False Start

May 27, 2005 | Leave a Comment

Well, I just spent the last hour just kind thinking about the Bigamy story. I’ve got a false start going. Now that I have changed the way the characters meet, I need to restart. So that is going to be my project for the day.
Maybe if I can replace those 1108 words, I will be [...]

Five Days

May 26, 2005 | Leave a Comment

Well, five days till I start trying to get a flight.
I spent the morning setting up web pages for my current “manuscripts in progress”. You can find the link under “word counts”. It just gives a brief synopsis and a few paragraphs of the story.
Doing some brainstorming today, nothing real serious as far as writing [...]

Well, as shameful as it is, I have been slacking lately. I’ve been rolling the plot around in my head, and packing up to leave Afghanistan. I’ll admit that I have been more preoccupied by leaving than I have been by writing.
I haven’t even done anything in ERWA, except for respond to email directed to [...]

I am moving my writing blog from MSN Spaces to here. I much prefer the Blogger interface, and it looks better (here) in my humble opinion.

Six days

May 25, 2005 | Leave a Comment

Well, I got all my boxes sent off yesterday. Three boxes full of misc “stuff” and clothes, a large wooden chest, two duffel bags full of useless army crap, and a small box of knives.
I’m feeling rather naked without my knives. But, I can’t take them on the plane. I mean after all, I might [...]
