Reunions

September 30, 2005 | Leave a Comment

I’ve had kind of a reunion of sorts over here in the last week. I’ve run into several old co-workers from Afghanistan. I’ve run into Chino Perez, Mike Pacheco, and Dawn Michelle Emanuel. I know that Mikus, Darthy (Dorothy), and Steve are over here somewhere too.
It’s nice to see old faces mixed in with the [...]

Relationships

Part I.
I’ve continued to read Caroline’s blog, and I have found the entries about her and her partner to be wonderful. I am very glad that she has found happiness.
It sounds like every male in her life has continually let her down. From her father, her brother, to her husband, each one of them failed [...]

Mood: Nervous
This is one of the buildings that I can see from where I work. It’s not my picture, I pulled it up from the internet.
I think the reality of where I am is finally beginning to settle in, and it’s got me kinda freaked. I mean, “Holy Shit! I’m in Freaking Iraq!!”. You drive [...]

Day Two

September 28, 2005 | Leave a Comment

Day two went the same way as day one, that being hurry up and wait. There is a slight ray of hope that both my roommate and I will be moved to accommodations with Internet access. I can’t stress how important internet access is to me. It’s my communication with my wife, and with my [...]

Iraq Day 1

September 27, 2005 | Leave a Comment

Well, I’m here… I made it into country from Jordan.
After a uneventful, yet thrilling ride from the airport to the IZ, I spent the majority of the day filling out forms and standing in line at one of the old palaces.
I was assigned a room with one of my co-workers, and spent a fairly restless [...]

Made it…

September 27, 2005 | 1 Comment

Well, after a few days of travel, I made it into Iraq.
Thus far the only major disaster is that I left my beloved pillow in Jordan. I had to come to terms with it’s loss last night, as I tossed and turned in bed. I will more than likely never see it again, and that [...]

In less than twenty-four hours I’ll be stepping onto a plane and setting off on yet another adventure. Twenty-fours hours left in my home town, less than twenty-four hours in America, less than twenty-four hours with my family…
Signing off, I’ll be back after I get settled….

Mood: Feeling Paranoid
Music: Alice In ChainsWell, I will be in Iraq no later than 27 Sept. That’s Tuesday. Four days away. Due to the time changes between here and there, that means I will have to be on a plane no later than Sunday night, here in Central time. Iraq is GMT +3. So at [...]

Mood: Nervous
Music: Southside by Moby & Gwen
“here we are now going to the south side,
i pick up my friends and we hope we won’t die,
ride at night, ride through heaven and hell,
come back and feel so well.”
I usually can’t stand Moby, if for no other reason than with the whole bald thing going on, he [...]

This is going to be my blog about the things I can talk about, which more than likely won’t be much, while I am in Iraq.
I will not be discussing my job, or what I do.
At the moment, I am still packing my bags and wondering how soon I am shipping out. I’m excited, sad, [...]

Iraq Bound

September 21, 2005 | 1 Comment

Well folks, it’s time for me to get suited up again. I’m bound for Iraq. I got a job offer this evening, and these guys are in a hurry, so it will be sooner rather than later.
Will more than likely be a while before I can post again…

Fate

If nothing else this week has reaffirmed my faith in the universe and in fate. This has been a perfect example of things working out exactly how they should, despite our wishes for them to work out otherwise.
I figured having the NRA and the GOP (Republican) applets along the side of the blog was warning [...]

My Thanksgiving

September 20, 2005 | Leave a Comment

Nothing new today. Here are some lyrics for your reading pleasure.
“Don Henley - My Thanksgiving”

A lot of things have happened
Since the last time we spoke
Some of them are funny
Some of ‘em ain’t no joke
And I trust you will forgive me
If I lay it on the line
I always thought you were a friend of mine
Sometimes I [...]
