More Kara Borden and David Ludwig News

[Zac] Horvath says Ludwig’s erratic behavior had actually started with an incident earlier this spring. According to published reports, Ludwig disappeared with his then girlfriend, who was 16, and took her to his family’s hunting cabin in Juniata County. What happened next is unclear, except that he evidently brought her back voluntarily and both the girl’s family and Ludwig’s decided to the handle the matter privately rather than bringing in the police. The girl was so traumatized, says Horvath, “she stopped talking for about two weeks and never left the house.”

Well… I’m dumbfounded once again. What on earth would cause a 16 year old girl to stop talking for two weeks? Beyond that what would traumatize her to the point of not wanting to leave the house?

I remember sixteen year old girls, getting them to shut-up was an accomplishment. Getting them to hide in the house, and not speak for two weeks… that’s just frightening.

20/20 hindsight here, but folks… if this was my kid, there would be no way in hell that he would be running around the neighborhood after stealing a car and traumatizing a young woman.

I also would of expected the parents of the young woman involved in this story to of pressed charges and to of gotten my son some therapy. I believe in natural consequences for stupid actions, better that he gets rapped on the small stuff, than to spend life in prison later when his crimes gets so big that I can’t protect him.

If nothing else, this shows the dangers of coddling our youth and shielding them from responsibility for their actions.


People magazine last week devoted five pages to the story, which it titled “Desire Turns Deadly”; included in the report were allegations not yet reported locally, including an assertion that when law enforcement officials raided the Ludwig home, seizing 54 guns, they also discovered a “bunker” in the basement of the home “complete with cots, food and sandbags” that suggested a “survivalist, apocalyptic mentality.”

Between this “alleged” apocalyptic mentality and his plans for “The Barn” this is beginning to vaguely remind me of “David Koresh” and the Branch Davidian compound at Waco.
