The first trial of Saddam Hussein has come to a close. Saddam has been sentenced to hang by the neck until dead.

BAGHDAD, Iraq  —  Saddam Hussein, the iron-fisted dictator who ruled Iraq for nearly a quarter of a century, was found guilty of crimes against humanity Sunday and sentenced to death by hanging.

The so-called Butcher of Baghdad, who was president of Iraq from 1979 until he was deposed by Coalition forces in April 2003, was convicted of the 1982 killings of 148 Shiites in the city of Dujail.

I doubt that Saddam had been taking the trial seriously…

(BBC) The former leader looked shocked and furious as the sentence was passed, and continued to shout, denouncing the court, the judge and the US-led occupation force in Iraq.

I believe this is a strike against those in the US who have said, or would say that Iraq was better off under Saddam. It is clear that the Iraqi people do not feel the same way.

Murder, rape, torture, crimes against humanity, hanging is to good for the Saddam. I hope they bury him facing away from Mecca, and covered in pig intestines.
