Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan…
November 27, 2006 | By Sniper One |
Iraqi President Talabani is set to visit Iran today. He is going to see if he can’t work a deal with Iran to help with the security situation. This despite the fact that we know that Iran is behind many of the problems.
(Khaleej Times) TEHERAN - Iraqi President Jalal Talabani visits Iran on Monday seeking Teheran’s help in stemming the bloodshed in its war-ravaged neighbour, even as the United States accuses Iran of fomenting the turmoil.
Talabani’s trip will last a “couple of days”, his spokesman Hiwa Othman told AFP. It will be his second visit to Iran as Iraqi president, and comes a year after he left Teheran with pledges to help his country battle the daily bloodshed.
The visit comes amid a flurry of diplomatic efforts by Washington and Baghdad aimed at finding a way to prevent the sectarian violence tearing at the very fabric of Iraqi society from descending into all-out civil war.
Naturally, Ahmandinejad decided to put his best “peace face” forward and predicted the collapse of the US, Britain and Israel.
Nov. 26 (Bloomberg) — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad predicted the collapse of Israel, the U.S. and Britain, attacking what he called their “oppressive behavior.”
“The Zionist regime is on a steep downhill towards collapse and disgrace,” Ahmandinejad told supporters at a rally of Basiji militia forces near Tehran today. In a reference to the U.S. and U.K., he said “the collapse and crumbling of your devilish rule has started.” The speech was carried live on state television.
He also called on Iraq and Afghanistan to drive out the troops in their country.
The Iranian president also called on neighboring countries to drive out “foreign occupiers,” in a reference to U.S.-led forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“The people of the region are well able to establish regional security,” the president said in the speech near the shrine of the Islamic Republic founder Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. “The presence of foreigners is the source of discord and conflict.”
The only good news comes from Afghanistan where the Ahmandinejad’s message was promptly rejected.
(Khaleej Times) KABUL - Afghanistan defended Monday the presence of the nearly 40,000 foreign troops on its soil, rejecting Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s statement that they were ”occupiers” and should be made to leave.
The hardline leader of neighbouring Iran on Sunday called for the peoples of the Middle East and Afghanistan to join forces to drive out foreign troops.
“These forces are not occupiers,” Afghan foreign ministry spokesman Sultan Ahmad Baheen told AFP.
“The presence of foreign troops in Afghanistan is based on a United Nations Security Council resolution. They are here to prevent Afghanistan becoming a safe haven for terrorists,” Baheen said.
“These forces will go back home when this is achieved,” the spokesman said. “Iran understands this.”
Of course, Iran understands this. They want Afghanistan and Iraq to be pawns, like Syria, to it own global caliphate dreams.
Why anyone in their right mind believes for a second that Iran and it’s proxy states like Syria, would actually help the US, Iraqi, or Afgahani people is beyond me. Iran is thumbing it’s nose at the UN, it’s actively undermining the government of Iraq, and Lebanon… and James Baker expects us to be able to convince them to play nice?
Clearly, this is insanity.
Speaking of insanity, lets not forget this little butt-nugget of stupidity from Secretary of State Condi Rice.
“The great majority of Palestinian people,” said the secretary of state to Cal Thomas the other day, “they just want a better life. This is an educated population. I mean, they have a kind of culture of education and a culture of civil society. I just don’t believe mothers want their children to grow up to be suicide bombers. I think the mothers want their children to grow up to go to university. And if you can create the right conditions, that’s what people are going to do.”
Cal Thomas asked a sharp follow-up: “Do you think this or do you know this?”
“Well, I think I know it,” said Dr. Rice.
“You think you know it?”
“I think I know it.”
This my friends and readers is why the Global stupidity meter is pegged out at SEVERE. For whatever reason, people just don’t take these murderous camel-jockeys seriously. These people define a better life as the destruction of the Jews. They define an educated population by how well they shoot Kassam rockets or make Molotov cocktails.
The idea of a civil society is the subjugation of all groups to Islam, all non-Muslims living in dhimmitude or being converted to Islam by the sword.
Until the world comes to understand that extremism must be met with an overwhelming opposite reaction, we will not be free of this kind of evil.
As my friend Seejanemom put it earlier in the day…
Let’s get real. When the wolves are at the door and they’ve gorged on the last of Caroline’s pie, its Charles’s over/under that usually does the trick.
