“I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot,’ so I - so kind of an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards,” Coulter said.

Ann says she was making a joke about people going into rehab after using specific words. Like “Faggot” or if you’re Michael Richards “Nigger”. I can see her point, it is absolutely stupid to think that you need to go into “rehab” if you use a “naughty word”. The double standard that exists over language is silly.

If a guy with more metal on his teeth than I have on the front of my car, and more gold around his neck than Mr. T, can say “Nigger” while rapping on a CD; then why can’t a white kid from the suburbs. Why is it any more offensive when it comes from the lips of a white guy than when it comes from a black man?

Wouldn’t it be more offensive from a black man, who has benefited from the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, and the civil rights movement? Does the use of the word from the Black community undo all that Dr. King worked for?

My point would be, that if a white man can’t say “Nigger” than nobody should be able to say “Nigger”. There shouldn’t be a double standard for it. So until the black community takes responsibility, and leads by example, I am not about to get upset about anyone saying “Nigger”.

On Hannity & Colmes last night, Ann Coulter asserted that the term “faggot” was a school yard taunt, and is a synonym for wuss. I can see that, but I personally think it’s a bit of a reach. Personally, I’ve always thought that “Faggot”, “Fag”, were derogatory terms for homosexuals.

Of course the old language meaning of the word had to do with the remains of a cigar, cigarette, or piece of wood.

It’s important to point out that in the same speech Ann Coulter said that she was not anti-Gay, but that she was Anti-Gay Marriage. (Which is the same view I have.) She believes that Gays should have the same rights against discrimination as everyone else, short of granting them the special right to get married to a same sex partner.

So this brings up the poll…

Was Ann Coulter Out Of Line, And What Does “Faggot” Mean?

  • Yes, “Faggot” is a gay slur.
  • No, “Faggot” is a gay slur.
  • Yes, “Faggot” means “wimp”
  • No, “Faggot” means “wimp”

The poll will close in a week.

I can say this, faggot is the word people use when beating you down (bashing). Sissy is a playground word . faggot is a mean spirited hate filled word. Simple.

Faggot is actually a playground word these days, and to deny such is simply a demonstration of ignorance. Kids in schools at every grade level use the term, as a derogatory insult, and while it is certainly NOT hateful to homosexuals, it is not a compliment to the person at which it is directed, either.

I wouldn’t interpret it as “wimp;” loser would be a more accurate translation, but I can forgive Ann since she probably hasn’t been on a playground lately.

That said, it was a joke, and Ann does NOT hate people, regardless of their faults, whether theirs include homosexual sin or not. Watch her entire speech before you judge her.
