Gathering Of Eagles; Delta & Roxy

Well, Gathering Of Eagles was today, and I’d say it was a success. I estimate that we out numbered the other side by 2 to 1. However, that is just my gut talking, and based on my experience, and not on an actual head count.

Overall, this weekend has been a cluster-fuck, but that is not the fault of the Gathering Of Eagles crew or anyone else. It’s all that bitch Mother fucking Nature. About noon on Friday I come to find out that my flight to DC has been canceled. So I call Delta and see what I can to make other arrangements.

The weather had DC locked down, and there just wasn’t anybody flying. Well, I committed to go to Gathering Of Eagles, I’d announced it here, Jane had announced it, I had commented on such on several other sites… so not going was just not an option.

“Come hell or high water” I said… and well… it wasn’t “high” water, but snow. Screw it, it’s only a 12 hour drive…

So I quick finish packing, get Roxy (my car) a preemptive oil change, and hit the road. I ended up crashing at my parent’s house in Virginia (8 hours later) for a nap, then got back on the road before the crows, and arrived in DC around 0900.

It sucks to try and make any sense of the roads in Washington DC when your running on not much more than little sleep and excitement.

Several phone calls between Jane, V5, and myself, and we all managed to get together at the Washington Monument. There is more than something overly wrong about Jane, myself, and V5 meeting (for the first time) at the Washington Phallus… but I’m just not going to go there.

Did I mention that driving in DC sucks?

As far as meetups were concerned, there was partial success. As mentioned, Jane, and V5… check. Shortly there after we ran into Michelle Malkin and Bryan from HotAir (COOL!). However I never did run into Mad Cow, or Mary Katharine Ham. Little bummed about MKH, but luckily Mad Cow is from Alabama, and we’ll meet up later in month (not a total loss).

Driving in DC sucks….

In any case… Jane, as expected is way cool, and is pretty much the same in person as she is on her blog. V5, is a great guy, and a real patriot.

MM and Bryan, too cool… and Bryan is the man!

I see that HotAir has a post up about Cindy Sheehan. I didn’t see her, which is just as well. If I had I’d be waiting for someone to bail me out of a the DC Clink instead of posting this on the blog.

Driving in DC still sucks…

Anyway… I’m running on about 4 hours of bad sleep and Mountain Dew. I’ll have pics and what not to post later.

Oh yeah… and Jane and V5 kick ass!

      I am so glad you made it, what a trooper! I did not. My mom got a negative report from her doctor Friday morning and I just did not feel I should leave. She was already worried about me going by myself, so I just felt I should stay in town.

      I can’t wait to see the pictures, and I’ll see you next week.
