New Opinion Poll

There is a new Opinion Poll up…

How Far Would You Go To Support The Troops?

  1. Join The Armed Services
  2. Go Over To Iraq/Afghanistan As A Contractor
  3. Go To Counter Anti-War Protests (Gathering Of Eagles)
  4. Contact My Elected Representatives To Support The Troops
  5. Blog About Supporting The Troops
  6. Sit On My Couch And Scream At The News
  7. I’m A Lefty Troll
  8. I’m A Military Spouse

Everyone says they support the troops, but how many of us actually do it?

Call me old fashioned, but I was brought up to believe that actions speak louder than words. So what do you DO to support the troops?

If you’re a Military Spouse, obviously, there is nothing more you need to do. I have the utmost respect for those of you who are married to a member of the Armed Forces. Each and every one of you are heroes for what you do here at home enabling your spouse to do what they do.

If you’re a lefty troll, I assume your idea of supporting the troops is to undermine their moral and to burn them in effigy. In short, I do not believe you support them in any way shape or form.

Screaming at the news can be good for the soul, but it doesn’t really accomplish anything.

Screaming at the news, and then blogging about how angry you are about how things are going can be cathartic. It might even stir other people to join your screaming.

If you blog, and then scream at your elected congress-critters, you have a much better chance to effecting some changes.

If you call your Congress-Critters, and then actively show up and shout down those who do not support our troops, you are showing commitment to our troops.

If you’ve been over to Iraq or Afghanistan, or actively support the mission through your work here in CONUS, you are truly supporting our troops. Thank You!

If you are in the active military, you are the troops, and dammit, we/I support you!

In any case, mark the highest level of support you are willing to give our troops.

So … who is hiring in Afghanistan or Iraq?

Any resource links? Some of us are a bit too old to join the military.

( no Custer-Battles links please, they have a very bad rep. , according to the folks in Suarez’s forum )

    [Sniper One: Links? Sure...

I volunteer with Operation Support Our Troops (send packages, counter protest, etc), use AnySoldier and BooksForSoldiers to contact troops to support, Blog about support and occasionally (not often enough) write letters/emails to congresscritters. (Plus donating to several charities like USO, Anysoldier, Soldiers Angels, etc.)
Better than some - always more that could be done.

I’m with Barb. Nothing seems like enough. I have “adopted” three Soldiers through Soldiers Angels. The first two, one in Iraq and the other Afghanistan, are home now. My “current” Soldier is in Iraq. I cannot begin to tell you how much it means for me to be able to do this. I send all manner of stuff, always a lot of snacks, so there is plenty to share. I send packages once a week.

I would get emails from my Soldier in Afghanistan and he was so appreciative, always thanking me, including his fellow Soldiers in the thanks. They were thanking me. I rarely read an email (I’ve saved them all) without tears rolling down my face. I just hope I was able to communicate just how much I appreciated them. The thanks was owed to them.

As long as there are Soldiers in harm’s way, I will be a Soldiers Angel.

(And as long as there are Democrats, I will sit on the couch and scream at the news)

I have been thinking about walking from the west coast to the east coast this summer to show my support for the war, anyone have any ideas?
