Remaining Positive About Iraq
May 20, 2007 | By Sniper One |
Its hard to remain positive when thinking about the possible outcomes in Iraq when you read articles like this one sponsored over at Hot Air.
Don’t get me wrong, I believe we need to know these things. However, it is hard, even as a die hard “WIN” proponent when it appears that we can’t get much of anything right.
I asked him about British claims that the security situation was improving. His reply was withering: “The British came here as military tourists. They committed huge mistakes when they formed the security forces. They appointed militiamen as police officers and chose not confront the militias. We have reached this point where the militias are a legitimate force in the street.”
If it wasn’t for my belief that if we leave Iraq in the short term, that we will of helped and emboldened the enemy; I would almost be for a withdrawal of our men and women. However, as long as we are in Iraq, and the enemy chooses to fight us there; instead of here, I have to conclude that it is better that we continue to fight them there, instead of here on American soil.
It also hard to remain positive about the War on Terror when we are still failing to confront the enemies among us. If the President gets his way, we will be giving carte blanch green cards to millions of illegal aliens from all over the world. How are we to protect the American people when we won’t even stand up the illegal aliens among us?
Illegal Aliens are not just Mexicans, and they aren’t all here cleaning toilets or picking vegetables. Many are here, like the Illegals that came over the border from Canada and flew planes into the Twin Towers, to do us harm. The latest plot against our men and women at Fort Dix should be poof enough that we cannot afford to give this reprehensible “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” bill the time of day.
President Bush, Senator John McCain, Senator Kennedy; and everyone who has voted for the idiotic Immigration Bill are nothing more than ostriches with their heads in the sand, wishing the enemies of America away. However wishing does not solve the issues at hand.
I just hope that while we are in The Late Autumn Of Our Complacency, we wake up before we find that our apathy has cost us our country, and our freedoms.

Sniper 1,
All is not lost! I tend to share a lot of your concerns but believe in our fellow citizens that all is not lost. These battling politicos are going to have to wake up and smell the coffee one of these days real soon… before 2008. The constant bickering and fighting between the two major “parties” is enough to wrench a gut over. But when they do decide to work together— make a “bi-partisan effort” to effect some sort of change they create a monster like the Comprehensive Immigration Reform package they’re so darned proud of.
They actually can’t see the flaws in their simple plan. They pat each other on their backs, puff out their chests, compliment each other on their “achievement” yet don’t realize their failures.
There’s cracks in their armor. Yesterday Bush admitted “concerns” expressed by others regarding the plan. Kennedy was much less positive about it last night.
Things aren’t as they should be but things certainly aren’t lost… yet.
Good post and take care.
