RNC Donations off 40%
May 31, 2007 | By Sniper One |
I don’t know how to feel about this one. On the one hand it hurts me, because I can’t stand to see the DNC doing better than the RNC, but at the same time, I’m sick of having Bush kick me in the teeth.
The Republican National Committee, hit by a grass-roots donors’ rebellion over President Bush’s immigration policy, has fired all 65 of its telephone solicitors, Ralph Z. Hallow will report Friday in The Washington Times.
Faced with an estimated 40 percent fall-off in small-donor contributions and aging phone-bank equipment that the RNC said would cost too much to update, Anne Hathaway, the committee’s chief of staff, summoned the solicitations staff last week and told them they were out of work, effective immediately, the fired staffers told The Times.
If this keeps up, maybe, just maybe, Bush will get a clue. But I seriously doubt it. He’s been pro-”guest worker” his entire presidency. Why should he wise up now?
There may be some good news… House Republicans may kill the bill with a “Blue Slip“. One can only hope.
This whole thing reminds me of Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf, the bumbling Iraqi Mis-Information Minister from the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
“I can say, and I am responsible for what I am saying, that they have started to commit suicide under the walls of Baghdad. We will encourage them to commit more suicides quickly.” - IMM
It’s sad when the he is more believable than Bush.
“If you want to kill the bill, if you don’t want to do what’s right for America, you can pick one little aspect out of it, you can use it to frighten people. Or you can show leadership and solve this problem once and for all.” - President Bush
Yeah, like this disgrace of a bill is going to solve the problem once and for all… The only way this is going to solve the problem once and for all is if it destroys the country.
So Bush and Amnesty is killing the RNC… God help us.
I can’t stand the idea of someone like Hillary, Obama, or Edwards becoming President. I just hope that the candidates are having better luck getting funds than the RNC.
Since McCain is pushing this Amnesty bill, I hope his campaign is all but dead. I wouldn’t vote for him if he was running for dog catcher.
Rudy and Romney are flip/flopping…
Rudy…
(RCP) On April 22nd The New York Times published an article called, “Shifting Tone on Immigration, Candidate Giuliani Talks Tough.” The thrust of the article is that when Rudy Giuliani was mayor of New York, he defended illegal immigrants. But now that he is a candidate for president, he is tough on illegals, and condemns President Bush’s program, which he describes as providing amnesty, to which Giuliani is opposed.
Romney…
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The crowd at South Carolina’s Republican convention cheered yesterday when former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney criticized a new immigration proposal and booed a key ally of US Senator John McCain when he defended it.
How do they really feel? Who knows… What would they do in office? Who knows… Make sure you check the political winds first.
- Voted YES on allowing more foreign workers into the US for farm work. (Jul 1998)
- Voted YES on visas for skilled workers. (May 1998)
- Voted YES on limit welfare for immigrants. (Jun 1997)
None of these votes were after 9/11 or during a time of war. I’ll wait to see what Fred has to say on the issue after he’s officially announced. (hurry up Fred!!)

President Bush Support for Immigration Reform Act of 2007 (S.1348) Amnesty has push me to the limit. This is the end of the line for me, From this point on, I will not support President Bushes policy in Iraq. I walked away from the Republican party and registered as an independent in the spring of 2005. I know that I am only one person and can’t do much. Let us remember what happen to the Republic of South Vietnam when the president lost the support of the American people. History will repeat it self if Immigration Reform Takes place. It pains me to know that we will pay a price from a cut and run policy in Iraq and we will have an other 911 attack. Why support the president policy in the war of terror if he can not enforce our nations Borders.
Let us hope , that so call Immigration Reform Act of 2007 (S.1348) and It’s Amnesty does not become law. It is the only way I will return to the Republican Party.
