It’s a funny thing, a hunch.

I woke up here in Australia this morning to the news that the bail out bill had passed through the House of Representatives at the second attempt, after the Senate passed it.

I want to look at this vote, that first vote, and then put it in the context of the election.

The first vote failed in the House by a margin of 228 to 205 The breakdown was 140 Democrats in favour and 95 against. For the Republicans 65 voted in favour and 133 voted against it. The Democrats made a huge play that it was the Republicans who were at fault for not approving the Bill. That’s a little galling when all it need was for another 12 of those 95 Democrats to change their vote to pass it. We all saw for ourselves how Speaker Nancy Pelosi almost single handedly shot it down with her speech.

The Senate then passed the Bill, and when it came back to the House of Representatives a second time, that House voted in favour this time and the margin was 263 to 171. The breakdown here is that 172 Democrats in favour and 63 against. For the Republicans, 91 voted in favour and 108 voted against it.

I can see now that the Democrats again will make play of the fact that it was their numbers that got the vote through. I just cannot imagine how much ‘Pork’ was attached to the end of the Bill so that it would meet Democrat standards.

The thing that I find hard to understand is this, and it’s a little involved, so bear with me a while.

Let’s start with the media, because they are part of the problem, and inadvertently have become part of the solution, without actually doing anything.

In the main, the Mainstream Media is in the pocket of the Democrats, mainly because it sells newspapers and gets more advertising if they have those bold headlines. Those headlines reflect back to the outgoing Administration of President Bush, and how the perception is that it has become a lame duck as it winds down. So, they need to sheet home everything to him, because that is what gives them the big headline that sells those papers. In the same breath, they then associate the Republican Candidate Senator McCain with that Administration, saying that he will just be more of the same. The media has effectively sided with the Democrats, because (their words) a new, fresh, young, charismatic African American will sell more newspapers than the perception of an older Candidate will. For years they have supported the Democrats at every turn, getting deeper and deeper into their back pocket, reporting every Democrat utterance that sheets blame for everything home to President Bush. Every word is repeated.

Now, we have this failure of the financial sector. Because it happens during the Bush Administration, then those media outlets obviously think it was his fault, and by extrapolation, the fault of the Republicans, no matter who they might be, so they just run with whatever their friends the Democrats tell them.

If the current Republicans tell that they warned of this and actually tried to do something about it, the Democrats just shoot that down. They have the numbers to see anything those Republicans might have done shot down on the floor of the Houses, and they just come out in numbers, and say it isn’t so. The media, long in their pockets just go along with it.

The thing here is this.

For years now, every single one of those sound bites over the years from every mouth has been reported on at length as news media attempt to outdo each other.

Because that same news media has long been in the pocket of the Democrats, they just blithely go along with everything the Democrats tell them. Anyway, it’s just not in their interests at all to drag up anything to the contrary from years ago, indicating the real truth of the matter, at that time it was originally reported. If they look bad, then, well, they look bad.

However, this time, there are more than a million bloggers out there. Not reporters with vested interests, but the average guy on the street. They have the time, and keep in mind that there’s just so many of them now. Well, they can trawl through thousands of hours of videos and news reports, and actually show what did happen at the time. They don’t just make this stuff up. They show what was actually said by the people who actually said it. The reporting from the media at the time. The comments made by politicians who don’t have to retrospectively forget with the convenience of time what they once said that was actually contrary to what they are saying now. Those bloggers can now catch them with their own words.

There’s literally thousands of places you can go now to see just who it was who caused all this financial disaster, how they supported what was happening at the time, went on to say there was no problem, and then when the bovine waste comes into violent contact with the rotating wind generating device, (work it out) they blandly blame the Republicans.

That’s the problem with those older Democrats. They are so confident that the Media is in their pocket that they think it won’t be dredged up to bite them on the posterior. What they have not taken into account is the bloggers who have found all these things and have now put them out there, as more and more people see the real truth behind the failure of the Financial System. It’s well and good for the Democrats to blame the big end of town, the Wall Street Zillionaires, because that gives the impression that they, the Democrats are out there for the little guy, when it was them, the Democrats who not only facilitated it in the first place, they actively pushed it for all it was worth.

Those old Democrats are now seeing their chickens come home to roost. A lot of them must now be doing a worrying thing, (for them) looking over their shoulders, at the closing firestorm about to descend on their backs.

The puzzling thing was this.

After all this overwhelming plethora of information has been slowly surfacing over the last couple of weeks, I was waiting for Senator McCain to start laying blame, because he has a wealth of proof now. I was waiting for him to let go at the first debate with Barack Obama. I was waiting for him to say something after the first failed vote, after Nancy and The Boys stood there, apportioning blame directly at the feet of the Republicans. I waited for Governor Palin to do the same thing. Absolute silence. They just took it all on the chin.

Waiting ….. waiting ….. waiting.

My hunch I mentioned at the top of the Post.

Republican Strategy.

Wait till after the vote is passed at the second attempt, which was always going to happen after it got through the Senate. The only sticking point would have been how much ‘pork’ could be attached to it this time around. Wait till the Democrats have dug themselves in deeper, and then come out with all the facts, facts the media just will not be able to refute this time, because they were the ones who reported it all in the first place. It just took the bloggers to find it.

I can see the headlines now after the Republicans release this wealth of information. Republicans go 100% Negative.

On the contrary, this is not ‘going’ negative at all.

It’s a startling indicator of what the Democrats in control of both Houses have done, and what they will continue doing if they still control both those Houses and have a Democrat Administration under a Democrat President. The rubber stamp will be bouncing like a beach ball.

No.

Now the bill has been passed, wait for this weekend as the Republicans flood the media with the real facts of the matter. The media will probably balk at having the finger pointed directly at them, but believe me, the bloggers already know the facts. Then watch the Democrats. Like a rabbit caught in the spotlight, they’ll be wide eyed and dumbfounded.
